Mercedes open to Red Bull
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has told Autocar that the German manufacturer would be open to supplying Red Bull. The report claimed that the team were about to enter a technical and brand partnership with Aston Martin.
Wolff denied that any talks were already under way with the Austrian team. If the deal went ahead it would majorly shake up the market. Wolff said “There are many, many things to be considered. What happens if Renault decides to have their own team and buy another team? Will they continue to supply Toro Rosso and Red Bull and, if not, what are the solutions?”
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner called the report “purely speculation.”
Aston Martin return?
Aston Martin has had discussions Williams and Force India according to Autosport as its evaluation of a possible return to the sport. Aston Martin is part owned by Mercedes and it understood to have given its blessing to such an arrangement.
Three of Mercedes powered teams Williams, Force India and Lotus are believe to be in the picture. Should a deal happen, Aston Martin would get branding on the car’s, with Mercedes recognised as the official engine supplier.
CEO Andy Palmer told the magazine “The paddock is always full of rumours. We have to explore ways of getting Aston Martin’s name known around the world and we currently use the World Endurance Championship principally to do that.”

He told Autosport “At the right time we will communicate with Kimi what we are going to do and that’s it.” He said previously that his future is in his own hands and he repeated it again.
Raikkonen’s team-mate Sebastian Vettel said ahead of the British Grand Prix he would be happy for the 35-year-old to be retained for next year.
Village idiot
McLaren boss Ron Dennis has called the BBC pundit and Former team boss Eddie Jordan a “village idiot” for suggesting that he should step down. Dennis refused to criticise Honda in the interview with Sky.
Jordan branded McLaren’s management as “arrogant” and that they should go. McLaren have had a difficult season and are behind with their development. He said the MP4-30 chassis is coming along well.
“Data is something we focus on all the time and our car performance is actually extremely good here. It’s hard to believe but we’re getting better aero figures than any other time during the year.”
