BAHRAIN GP – Hamilton storms to another pole in the desert
Lewis Hamilton has taken his fourth pole position of the season in qualifying ahead of Sundays Bahrain Grand Prix. The double world champion will start ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg.
Meanwhile, Kimi Raikkonen qualified ahead of the Williams of Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa who will start fifth and sixth respectively.
It was another mixed evening for McLaren after Jenson Button once again could only manage two laps before he was forced to stop on track because his car shutdown on his first lap out of the pits. But Fernando Alonso managed to get into Q2 for the first time this season.
Lotus’s Pastor Maldonado and Red Bull’s Daniil Kyvat had a difficult evening after both drivers failed to get into the second session. Maldonado suffered a problem with his engine and will start sixteenth. It was the first time in Kyvat’s career that he failed to make it out of Q1.
Rookie Carlos Sainz had a good evening managing to make it into the final session and beat the Lotus of Romain Grosjean to ninth place.
