Ricciardo’s fighting talk

Daniel Ricciardo has told the BBC’s Top Gear program and reporters that he believes he can become world champion. The Australian  said “So the time has come…I believe Lewis has got the crown at the moment so it would be nice to take at least one title off him.”

Ricciardo was the only man to beat the Mercedes drivers last season. He said that he hoped to win more races and that improvements have been made during the winter.

“Everyone is going to improve, that’s a fact,” said Ricciardo. “But you’d like to think that Mercedes’ room for improvement is smaller than everyone else’s because I think they made so much of it last year.”

 

Good deed as auctioned raises £20,000

Images giving a insight into F1 have been auctioned of for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

The third annual Zoom Charity Gala Auction featured images of Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel, as well as the sport’s boss Bernie Ecclestone, who each took photographs for the charity with Ecclestone’s being sold for £2,400.

Another fifty will be actioned off at a later date including a selection of Nikon cameras signed by some great names from F1 history.

 

Running late

Red Bull has announced that they have only just started to build the 2015 car. The announcement came days before the first test which begins on Sunday but the team says there was no danger of missing the first test; things were still pretty fraught at the factory to get the car finished and shipped to Spain.

The teams principal Christian Horner said “It’s probably the shortest production and assembly in our previous ten seasons. It has been a far more positive winter compared to last year. We know where the benchmark is and what we need to achieve”

 

Launching Thursday

Sauber have announced they are to launch there 2015 car on Thursday on the teams website. The Swiss teams car will be driven by Marcus Ericsson who joins from Caterham and Felipe Nasr from Williams
