Force India not going to Jerez

Force India have withdrawn from the first preseason test which begins on Sunday in Jerez. The team was planning to run last year’s car to test parts but they have decided not to because of “limited learning opportunities”.

The team refused that this is due to financial problems and the teams did not comment on reports the team are late paying suppliers. A spokesman said “The decision was taken at the end of last week,” the spokesman said, adding that the team would be at the second and third tests in Barcelona later next month.”

Last season along with Lotus and Sauber said the prize money was unfairly and disproportionately weighted towards the more successful teams. deputy team principal Bob Fernley even claimed an agenda on behalf of commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone and the top teams to force the smaller teams out.

 

Vettel nearly retired – Horner

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has says that the four time world champion Sebastian Vettel considered quitting Formula One last year. The German finish fifth in the world championship and failed to win last season.

Horner told The Guardian “Seb didn’t enjoy the regulation changes,  He didn’t enjoy the new engine, the feel from the new system, the power unit, the brake by wire, the lack of downforce. You could tell he wasn’t happy.”

Horner also added that before when the regulations changed in 2012 that Vettel was also unhappy. Also there are no hard feelings following his switch to Ferrari saying “His boyhood hero was Michael [Schumacher] and of course there was the lure of Ferrari. For any driver – the brand, the history, the mystique, is immensely powerful.”

 

Epson partners Mercedes

The electronics company Epson has announced a long-term global partnership with Mercedes. The Japanese company will become an Official Team Partner of Mercedes AMG Petronas.

It will providing its knowhow in the product areas of inkjet printers, scanners, 3LCD projectors and wearables, including smart glasses and sports sensing products.

The branding will be unveiled on Sunday during the first day of the first pre-season test in Jerez.

 

Becoming daddy

Ferrari has confirmed report in Finnish newspaper that Kimi Raikkonen fiancee, Minttu has given birth to a baby boy. The baby is healthy, measuring 51cm and weighing 3.7kg.
