The fourth round of the season takes place in the gulf state of Bahrain. The circuit is located near the capital Sakhir. The circuit has a mix of fast corners and long straights. The circuit has huge run off areas which allows drivers to push and makes overtaking easy.

Since the uprising began in 2011 the race has become a magnate for the protesters. This allows the issues to return to the spotlight. There always have been demonstrations and clashes with the police.

Classics

2014- Lewis Hamilton beats Nico Rosberg in a race long dual. This was the beginning of the season long battle for the title.

2011- The race is cancelled after the troubles of the Arab spring reached the country weeks before the season opener. But it wasn’t cancelled until June after the Prince ‘postponed’ and later withdrawn.

2010- the race was moved to the 6.299 km (3.914 mi) “Endurance Circuit” to celebrate F1’s ‘diamond jubilee’.

2004- Formula ones first race in the Middle East
