Practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was a tale of two sessions. FP1 isn’t really a session which you can read a lot into as it a lunchtime sessions which is the hottest part of the day but however this is not the case we saw in both sessions narrow.
The gaps
The gaps in the sessions were tight this is most likely that the circuit is made up of two halves the long fast flowing section then into a street style low speed section.
This may allow for a lot more track action or if any one finds enough time may allow them to mix it up on Sunday. As ever take the running with a pinch of salt Friday is a chance to try new parts which may be focused towards next year after this week and the tests they won’t run again until Barcelona in three months.
Mercedes
Mercedes look however still to be in control after toping both sessions but P3 will decide which of the two has the edge. But the gap will be tight between the two.
Red Bull appear to have leap frogged Williams on track we already said this maybe because of the nature of the track. It maybe unlikely that the team will be able to fight with them during the race and meaning there on for their first winless season since 2008.
Force India
The team appear strong this weekend but the question will be with their able to carry this into next season. There fifth place in the constructors championship will help giving them a bigger budget because of the way the prise money is spilt.
Off track
There were talks going on between Renault and Berine Ecclestone they are going to according to reports take over Lotus. There however is a dispute between Renault and Berine Ecclestone over prise money and ‘heritage payments.’
