Welcome Back looking to the future

Formula One Vault is back online again after resolving the main technical issues with the website. Now about halfway through the season, we will be focusing on repairing the links on the website as well as covering races again, there is a backlog of reports to upload and sort through over the summer. I am hoping that we will be back to normal for the Dutch Grand Prix at the end of August.

The rest of 2023 is going to be used as a transition year, we hope by the start of next season to have a better design closer to the old design. The most important part is getting back online and resuming producing content, as well as uploading backlog of race. There are also linking issues which we are working through, this could take time going through the Grand Prix Archive and results.

As you may have noticed we are phasing out F1 Today, this will be replaced by This Week on a Sunday morning (of non-race weekends) returns on 06 August. This Grand Prix post-race on a Sunday (depending on time), this will return for Austria and Britain then on holiday. The Prixview Editions are being replaced by Welcome To The Grand Prix.

As ever previews will be as normal.

How are we going to bring you the news without F1 Today, for big breaking news we will post stand-alone stories and analysis, but This Week will act as it does now as a Sunday wrap-up of the big stories. A new strand under “news & analysis’ called ‘analysis’ will be rolled out once recovery mode is complete, the idea is very similar to BBC’s analysis editor Ros Atkins on… One example which hasn’t been written is ‘can Red Bull Win every race in 2023’

Behind The Headlines will continue as a Thursday (of non-double headers) look back on the weekend, as well as being a place to look at what’s going on in F1. There will be pop up stand-alone news articles issue when a big story or something which cannot wait until This Week.

The Inside Line a new unscripted piece as well as my notebook looking back on the season, as well as other topics.

These changes I hope give me both more flexibility to do other things as well away from F1 Vault, as the season gets longer its more important to get the balance right. Producing content which was sometimes held back by F1 Today is my priority and I hope these changes give me more time to do other interests and projects.

I love writing about the sport but not having F1 Today over the last few months has allowed me to do more without worrying about letting you the readers down. Any feedback and ideas are welcome…
