Preview – Italian Grand Prix

Features

Round thirteen takes Formula One to the iconic circuit at Monza for the final stop of the European season. Built in 1922 the circuit is the third oldest purpose built circuit and has held the race except one since the formation of the world championship. There has been many different layouts including a banked oval used until 1969.

The modern circuit retains the high speed despite modifications in the wake of the Imola in 1994 meaning chicanes were introduced. This years race will be the last on this version of the circuit with a new chicane being build and part of the old circuit being rebuilt. The high speed nature requires good grip and fast straight line speed which means a Mercedes drivers are the favourites to win.
