Sebastian Vettel fastest on day two in Jerez

Sebastian Vettel led the way during the second day of preseason testing in Jerez. The Ferrari driver was ahead of Sauber a team who also use Ferrari to power the car.

The Lotus made it first run on track after being built overnight by the team and completed 41 laps before a drivetrain issue brought out the red flag. Meanwhile Vettel continued to show the Ferrari had pace going 1.6 seconds faster than he did on Sunday.

Felipe Nasr matched the time that his team-mate Marcus Ericson on Sunday. Nasr day however was mainly focused on reliability running for 80 laps before calling it a day coming within 0.8 of the Ferrari. While world champion Lewis Hamilton completed more reliability runs before a water leak late in the afternoon brought his day to an end.

Jenson Button had his first go in the Honda but he spent most of the day in the garage  before re-emerging on the damp track in the last 20 minutes. While Daniil Kyvat provided the drama when he lost his front wing so completed a  series of in and out laps with no wing on the car which at least allowed the team to run some systems checks.
