Nico Rosberg won a fair fight to take victory from his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the Austrian Grand Prix. Hamilton made a poor start allowing Rosberg to pass him into the first corner.<\/p>\n
The defending champion led following Rosberg\u2019s win has been cut to ten points heading to his home race in a fortnights time. There was drama early on after two former champions Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso crashed on the opening lap bringing out the safety car for five laps.<\/p>\n
But Hamilton has once again beaten a British record set by Sir Jackie Stewart of leading seventeen races back to back.<\/p>\n
Felipe Massa held of Ferrari\u2019s Sebastian Vettel, who lost crucial seconds on his one pit stop when the right rear wheel gun jammed to take 3rd<\/sup> and a fortieth career podium. Sebastian Vettel finished fourth.<\/p>\n Rosberg said \u201cIt’s an awesome feeling of course to win again here. The start made the race. It really worked out perfectly today.\u201d<\/p>\n Adding \u201cIt was a great start and I managed to defend in the first couple of corners. I was really happy with the car and to see the gap open up to Lewis.\u201d<\/p>\n Hamilton said \u201cNico did a fantastic job today. He was quicker during the race, I had a bad start which lost me ground. I was pushing as hard as I could.\u201d<\/p>\n Le Mans winner Nico Hulkenberg was sixth for Force India. While Daniel Ricciardo managed to fight back from the back to score Red Bull\u2019s only point at their home Grand Prix.<\/p>\n Max Verstappen finished eight after he appeared to struggle to control his car on worn tyres at the end and Mexican Sergio Perez made it a double point\u2019s finish for Force India.<\/p>\n It was another difficult weekend for McLaren after Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button retired from the race.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Nico Rosberg won a fair fight to take victory from his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the Austrian Grand Prix.
