Max Verstappen has won the Spanish Grand Prix after joining Red Bull only last week after both Mercedes crashed each other out of the race on the opening lap.<\/p>\n

Verstappen youngest winner<\/em><\/p>\n

Max Verstappen did everything he needed to follow the Mercedes collision proving the doubters wrong, he proved under pressure that despite his age and in experience he can deliver good results. All the youngest winners this century have gone on to be world champion at some point in their careers.<\/p>\n

He told the press conference \u201cIt is a very big surprise. Of course I didn\u2019t expect that. On the first stint on the soft I could keep up quite well after the two Mercedes crashed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis feeling to be first\u2026 I was targeting a podium but then to win straight away, it\u2019s an amazing feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you said before this race Verstappen would win you would have been called mad.<\/p>\n

Madrecedes \u2013 Crashes <\/em><\/p>\n

The Mercedes pair came together at the start as Hamilton tried to pass into turn four but hit the back of Rosberg taking both of them out.\u00a0 Rosberg made the better start as Hamilton was behind trying to go down the inside a Turn four but went out onto the grass before spinning into the back of his team-mate taking them both out of the race.<\/p>\n

The team are very cross and it\u2019s not the first time that the pair have come together. But they need to learn and its silly racing incident that cost teams championship. Rosberg had the lead and as the person in front who sets the pace and controls the race<\/p>\n

\u201cI was aware of the situation, I saw Lewis coming closer,\u201d Rosberg explained, \u201cso I went for the usual racing driver action of closing the door as early as I could. I was making it clear I wasn\u2019t leaving any space, so I was very surprised that he went for the gap anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hamilton added \u201cFirst of all, a huge apology to all of our team – when I stopped my heart just sank. To not deliver for them, it\u2019s honestly\u2026 indescribable how gutted I was.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got a good start but he [Rosberg] slipstreamed me into Turn 1. Then through Turn 3 he had a d-rate – basically he made a mistake and started in the wrong engine setting. We only have one setting for maximum power and he wasn\u2019t in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferrari strong result<\/em><\/p>\n

Raikkonen has raised his game so far this season he has begun to deliver good strong performances and if he keeps doing so will not be able to asked the difficult questions like last year about his performance.<\/p>\n

But this is not what they needed following the retirement\u00a0 of Mercedes and they want to win. Raikkonen held off the Red Bull which showed he can respond and still has what he had in 2007 when he won the title. Vettel is seen as number one but he doesn\u2019t have the unfair advantages there no longer using team orders systematically.<\/p>\n

Sainz responds<\/em><\/p>\n

Carlos Sainz as you would expect to be a disappointed with not being promoted to the Red Bull team. But he managed to show what he could do early on he was running with Red Bull and Ferrari\u2019s. if he can continue to show he can deliver he will find a future in F1.<\/p>\n
