Nico Rosberg has taken his four victory of the season and his eighth back to back victory at the Russian Grand Prix from team-mate Lewis Hamilton who fought back from tenth to second.<\/p>\n
Rosberg\u2019s victory allowed him to extend his lead after taking a maximum 100 points so far this season which gives him a 43 point lead over Hamilton. Hamilton showed during the race he had the pace to win the race but was forced to back off to protect his engine.<\/p>\n
Hamilton told BBC News \u201cThere wasn’t a doubt in my mind I could win it. I had the pace, but then I had the problem with the engine again and I had to back off.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rosberg said \u201cIt’s been an awesome weekend. The car has been fantastic all weekend, really even in qualifying and in the race today. It felt very special out there. So, very, very happy. Thanks to everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
For the second time this season Ferrari\u2019s Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull\u2019s Daniil Kyvat collided on\u00a0 the opening lap of the race.<\/p>\n
Vettel overtook the Red Bull of Kyvat sent him out a bit wide giving him a puncher then the Russian hit him from behind on the run to turn four sending him into a spin sending him on a one way ticket to the barriers and into retirement and brought the safety car out.<\/p>\n
The german was very angry launching a foul mouthed attack on team radio \u201cfor F*** man, who the F*** \u2026 crash. I\u2019m out someone hit in the F****** rear at turn two and again in turn three. What the f*** are we doing here?\u201d<\/p>\n
Vettel then visited his former Red Bull boss Christian Horner on the pit wall when he returned to the pits. Kyvat was handed a 10 second stop go penalty and this could pile the pressure on the Russian because Helmut Marko is keen on promoting \u00a0Max Verstappen to the senior team.<\/p>\n
Verstappen currently in the Toro Rosso had looked strong fighting with McLaren\u2019s Fernando Alonso until lap 34 until he was forced to retire because of an engine failure. This allowed McLaren to take their first double point score of the season<\/p>\n
Alonso made a good start rising through the field but his team-mate Jenson Button was caught in the fall out of the Vettel Kyvat crash.<\/p>\n
Kevin Magnussen was an impressive seventh for the struggling Renault, ahead of Haas’ Romain Grosjean and Force India’s Sergio Perez, who recovered well from a first-lap puncture.<\/p>\n
Romain Grosjean gave Haas another good hall of points finishing eighth after coming through the field. Red Bull didn\u2019t have luck with Daniel Ricciardo either who hit the Force India of Sergio Perez giving him a puncher.<\/p>\n
