Nico Rosberg has taken pole for Sunday\u2019s Chinese Grand Prix. The qualifying session was heavily interrupted by accidents throughout as drivers got caught out by the conditions caused by rain which made the track slippery.<\/p>\n
The Ferrari\u2019s of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel made errors on their final lap after Rosberg bettered the first time set by Raikkonen who messed up and was just pipped by the red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo by .05 of a second. Vettel had only decided to do a single run in the final session.<\/p>\n
Vetel told Sky Sports \u201cWe saved a set of tyres, I was confident that I could make it on the last lap, but I didn’t. I wasn’t happy with the lap, I made a couple of small mistakes here and there that cost me quite a lot of time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lewis Hamilton\u2019s difficult weekend continued after he had problems with his Energy Recovery System (ERS) in the opening Q1. Which Rosberg said he wasn\u2019t \u00a0not ecstatic because of Hamilton\u2019s problems but for him \u201cThe whole weekend has gone well, the car was handling well so to get the lap done I am happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hamilton told BBC News \u201cNo-one wants it easy. It’s still early on. We are definitely in the mud but we will dig our way out. These things are sent to try us. I’m sure the guys are just as gutted as I am.\u201d<\/p>\n
Valtteri Bottas was fifth for Williams ahead of the Red Bull of Daniil Kyvat, Force India\u2019s Sergio\u00a0 Perez , the Toro Rosso\u2019s of Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen, and the second Force India of Nico Hulkenberg.<\/p>\n
The first accident came from Manors Pascal Wehrlein in Q1 who made a mistake on the pit straight crashing into the pit wall after getting caught out on slick tyres. The German hit a bump then ran into a damp patch which led him to the wall which brought the red flag out. This delayed the session by twenty minutes.<\/p>\n
Nico Hulkenberg will start tenth after he got his force India into Q3 but was another driver who had problems after his front left wheel came loose and bounced down the track late in Q2, forcing him to stop the car on track bringing the session to a early end.<\/p>\n
This hinder Fernando Alonso who was just about to go onto his last run to see whether he could get into Q3. His team-mate Jenson Button was also going onto his last run to see whether he could also get into Q3<\/p>\n
