Part of their plan was to run last year’s car but it was rejected. Here is a shortened version of that story

Marussia plan rejected by one vote as Force India say no

Force India has rejected the Marussia bid to run their 2014 car this season. This is after last minutes funds were raised by team to allow them to race this season.

Commercial rights holder, Berine Ecclestone said in The Independent “Maybe the other teams would have liked to use last year’s car. The trouble was that you can’t do these things for one team; you have got to do it for everybody.

Force India’s deputy principal Bob Fernley described the application as ‘speculative’. “During the meeting it emerged that there were compliance issues and that the application lacked substance,” he said.

Fernley said that no details had been given about the potential new owners or how the team would be run. But there factory was sold to Haas in order to become there European base and Marussia could of used the Manor have a facility in Dinnington, northern England. More here

While Marussia looked to be heading back to the grid Caterham remaining assets could be sold if a buyer isn’t found by 11th march

Hopes ended for Caterham

Caterham’s hopes of returning have apparently ended after the administrators put the teams remaining assets up for sale. The team went into administration last year and have failed to find a buyer

Administrator Finbarr O’Connell told BBC Radio Oxford several auctions, including of the 2014 F1 race cars, will be held in March, April and May. He also confirmed discussions have been held with two parties over a sale.

Any buyer is still welcome says O’Connell as long as a sale can be agreed by the 11 March. He added I’ve had meetings with two parties today. They’re not advanced enough for my liking. But the next person believes they’re going to convince me they’ve got the wherewithal to buy the team.”

He said it is “incredibly short” for Caterham to make the starting grid for the Australian Grand Prix in March.

Could Germany be off the calendar this season as there is only a month to finalise the 2015 Calendar

Unlikely to be German GP – Ecclestone

Berine Ecclestone has told Germany’s Rhein Zeitung newspaper that the country is unlikely to hold a Grand Prix this year but there is still time to secure a deal.

The 84-year old says it is due to “poor in recent years that it is not economically viable.” Ecclestone last month told Reuters that the race will stay at hockenhiem would hold this year’s race but now says no deal has been done with any circuit.

“It’s not looking good…you can say that it (the race) looks unlikely but we are trying to rescue it. I don’t want to lose it, for sure. We are trying our best.” Said Ecclestone.

Both circuits share the event holding a race under an alternation agreement that saw Hockenheim host it last season. Germany has been on the calendar for fifty years without a break even though it didn’t hold the German Grand Prix in 2007 instead it held the Grand Prix of Europe.

How much does it cost to be champions a report showed how much this week

How much did Mercedes spend?

A report by Auto Motor und Sport says that Mercedes budged was €250 million for both the 2013 and 2014. The third of the budget was prise money the team won last season.

Most of the remaining funds came from the teams share of FOM’s revenue and from investors with Malaysian oil giant Pedronas paying another €30 million per season as title sponsor (as of 2009 when it signed on), and untold millions more coming in from other partners.

Marussia have been working hard to find the money to go racing this season.
