Charles Leclerc was fastest in third practice for the British Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver set a 25.489 to go just under seven hundredths faster than the McLaren of Oscar Piastri. Ferrari has appeared competitive all weekend, with just over a tenth between the top four.<\/p>\n
Max Verstappen split the two McLaren\u2019s the four-time champion was two-hundredths behind Piastri as he put himself ahead of Lando Norris by a similar margin. Lewis Hamilton could have been in the mix but aborted his lap due to a red flag for debris, which left him eleventh, but the time looked good enough to be at the front.<\/p>\n
Norris split the Red Bulls as he went half a second faster than Yuki Tsunoda, who was ahead of Ollie Bearman by a tenth. The McLarens found themselves unable to replicate Friday’s FP2 pace amid the early phases, but the papaya cars had been fuelled for multiple runs and a longer run. Norris and Piastri got closer on their second efforts on the same tyres, but Leclerc then posted a 25.922 to make a statement as the opening half-hour closed for business.<\/p>\n
Alex Albon was seventh the Williams driver seven thousandths behind Bearman ass he went half a hundredth ahead of George Russell\u2019s Mercedes, ensuring all the Brits were inside the top ten. Russell was surprisingly off the pace given the strength this season Mercedes has had in cooler conditions.<\/p>\n
The two Racing Bulls completed the top ten, Isack Hadjar four thousandths behind the Englishman and ahead of teammate Liam Lawson by over a tenth. But the session was brought to an early end when Sauber\u2019s Gabriel Bortoleto spun off at high speed at Maggots (Turn Eleven).<\/p>\n
Seemingly taking too much kerb as he turned in, the Brazilian lost control of the car as it slewed across the circuit, first over the kerb and grass on the inside, where it broke its front-left suspension, before coming to a stop in the gravel on the other side.<\/p>\n
Hamilton\u2019s aborted lap left him eight hundredths outside the top ten as he set an identical time to the man he replaced at Ferrari, Carlos Sainz.<\/p>\n
They were both four hundredths ahead of Esteban Ocon and Kimi Antonelli, followed by the Sauber duo. Nico Hulkenberg was two thousandths faster than Bortoleto with them the first drivers a second off the pace.<\/p>\n
