Nico Rosberg was fastest in a wet first practice for this weekends United State Grand Prix. The German was faster than the Red Bull of Daniil Kvyat while his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton was only fifth ahead of championship rival Sebastian Vettel.<\/p>\n
The weekend is going to be affected by heavy rain because of Hurricane Patricia which is expected to hit Mexico in the next few hours. The hurricane is expected to miss next week\u2019s venue in Mexico City and is a category five hurricane.<\/p>\n
Carlos Sainz was fourth for Toro Rosso the highest placed Renault powered car ahead of championship leader Hamilton and his rival Vettel for Ferrari. Max Verstappen separated Vettel from his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen in eightieth.<\/p>\n
Fernando Alonso used an updated Honda power unit to go ninith fastest while Valtteri Bottas completed the top ten for Williams. Lotus\u2019s Pastor Maldonado didn\u2019t set a lap time because of a gearbox issue.<\/p>\n
