Felipe Massa was fastest in the second practice for the Russian Grand Prix for Williams. The session was heavy effected by rain meaning the majority of teams decided not to run a timed lap.<\/p>\n
Massa was two tenths of a second faster than the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel with his Williams team-mate Valtteri Bottas third. Toro Rosso\u2019s Max Verstappen was fourth ahead of McLaren\u2019s Fernando Alonso.<\/p>\n
The Mercedes drivers\u00a0Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were two of twelve drivers who only ran a few install laps and didn\u2019t set a timed lap. The reason for not setting a timed lap because the forecast for the next two days is dry with rain\u00a0 Sunday night.<\/p>\n
Hamilton said \u201cIt’s the type of surface where the water just stands. It doesn’t drain away anywhere so it looks like when it does rain it takes a long time to dry. It’s really slippery out there; it’s not a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vettel said: \u201cIt was quite tricky because one half was wet and the other was only a bit damp. But it was good fun. I wanted to go out and do a little bit in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n
For Alonso it wouldn\u2019t of made any difference as he knows he will start last after a total of 35 place grid penalty for changing a number of parts on his engine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
