The indycar and former F1 driver Justin Wilson had died after a crash in which he suffered a severe head injury in the closing laps of a race on Sunday at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania, IndyCar officials said.<\/p>\n
The 37-year old was transferred to hospital in a critical condition in a coma at a hospital in Allentown. CEO of the parent of IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway Mark Miles said \u201cThis is a monumentally sad day for IndyCar and the motorsports community as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n
Miles added \u201cJustin’s elite ability to drive a race car was matched by his unwavering kindness, character and humility — which is what made him one of the most respected members of the paddock.\u201d<\/p>\n
His family in a statement described Wilson as \u201cloving father and devoted husband, as well as a highly competitive racing driver who was respected by his peers.\u201d<\/p>\n
