BAHRAIN GP – Rosberg pips Hamilton in practice two

Testing & Race Reports

Nico Rosberg has gone marginally quicker than his team-mate in second practice ahead of this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix. Rosberg was 0.115 seconds quicker than Lewis Hamilton and 0.5 second faster than Kimi Raikonen’s Ferrari.

Hamilton spent most the session on race -simulation runs on the ‘medium’ tyre as Mercedes tried to evaluate both tyres. While Rosberg focused on the ‘hard’ tyre before the pair switched.

Mercedes look to be able to complete with Ferrari once again following a strong form in practice with Williams being the next fastest team. Daniel Ricciardo was sixth fastest for Red Bull.

Fernando Alonso was just outside the top ten once again in the McLaren along with his teammate Jenson Button who only managed to complete two laps before stopping on track because of an engine problem.

In the closing part of the session there was a brush for Sebastian Vettel with the Force India’s Sergio Perez which is under investigation. Also Hamilton and Raikkonen are under investigation after passing a queue of cars on the inside at the exit of the pit lane at the end of the session.

McLaren managed to get Button out again later in the session but he failed to set a representative lap time after getting tangled up with Lotus’s Romain Grosjean when he tried.
