Lewis Hamilton has taken pole position, beating his Mercedes team-mate by more than half a second for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The reining world champion has been on form leading every session this weekend.<\/p>\n
Nico Rosberg will start alongside Hamilton giving Mercedes a front row lock out ahead of Ferrari Sebastian Vettel. Vettel\u2019s former team-mate Daniel Ricciardo backed up Red Bull\u2019s strong performance this weekend by qualifying fourth.<\/p>\n
Hamilton\u2019s strong performance means he and team-mate Rosberg could be in a fight between the two unless they have problems during the race. Hamilton said \u201cI’m incredibly happy with the weekend. I can’t remember having a performance as good as this.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff told the media that Hamilton could have gone 0.2 seconds quicker but lost it in one corner. Rosberg said \u201cQualifying went pretty much to plan, but I didn’t find the pace. It has been a bit up and down all weekend for some reason. We need to look into it tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vettel\u2019s team-mate Kimi Raikkonen was fifth fastest ahead of Valtteri Bottas in sixth with Daniil Kyvat separating the Fin from his team-mate.<\/p>\n
McLaren had another poor session with Jenson Button failing to get through to Q2 and while Fernando Alonso made it through, he was unable to take part after his car stopped at pit entry.<\/p>\n
Alonso hoped by pushing it back to the pits he would be allowed to take part in Q2 but the rules state all cars must return under their own power to take part in any session.<\/p>\n
