Season starts properly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Force India\u2019s Deputy Team Principal Bob Fernley says that the team\u2019s season truly begins with this weekend\u2019s British Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

The team suffered delays in manufacturing this year\u2019s car will make its race weekend debut at Silverstone as they have been running a B-spec 2014 car up to this weekend.<\/p>\n

Fernley told Autosport \u201cI think it is the start of our season really. We’ve done the initial reorganisation and restructuring of the aero department. There will be a process of bringing it all together.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also says the team is hoping to introduce further upgrades at Spa or Monza if there introduction goes well. He added the team has an \u201caggressive development programme.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ready chase Red Bull<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sergio Perez is optimistic that Force India’s B-spec VJM08 can be potent enough to allow it to chase down Red Bull for fourth place in the F1 constructors’ standings.<\/p>\n

He told Crash.net \u201cI think the whole team has been waiting so much for this upgrade \u2013 it’s basically the first upgrade for the whole year. It’s nice at this time to look back and see what we have achieved as a team, knowing where we were two or three months ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said jokingly that the media may not recognise the VJM08 such is its makeover, Perez picked out two existing rivals as the remaining the biggest threat to Force India’s fifth place in the points.<\/p>\n

Fans want change <\/strong><\/p>\n

The results of the GPDA Global Fans Survey says fans do want change \u00a0\u00a0but without gimmicks or knee-jerk reactions to a sport many now describe as expensive and boring.<\/p>\n

217,756 fans responded to the survey which was launched by drivers at the Monaco\u00a0Grand Prix. Chairman of the GPDA Alex Wurz said \u201cThe fans are clear: they don\u2019t want a radical overhaul of grand prix racing that takes it away from its historic roots.\u201d<\/p>\n

The average age of fans are 37 years old with three quarters following the sport for ten years. Over half the surveyed fans watch at least 12 races a season, frequently watching the live race with the ideal time to watch F1 races is Sundays between 12 & 3pm.<\/p>\n

Halting Rosberg\u2019s charge<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lewis Hamilton is seeking to halt his team-mates charge at his home grand prix. Hamilton is yet to beat Nico Rosberg in Europe this season.<\/p>\n

Hamilton currently has a 10-points advantage over the German following Rosberg’s victory in Austria. In order to retain his title he needs to start winning races.<\/p>\n

Hamilton says he didn\u2019t really reach his peak in Austria. He told DNA India \u201cIt wasn’t the smoothest of weekends for me, so to come away with second place wasn’t a disaster in the circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added \u201cI can’t describe the feeling I had last year, lifting that trophy again in front of a sea of fans on pit straight, after so many years, and after a tough start to the weekend too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Auction raises \u00a372,000 for GOSH <\/strong><\/p>\n

An auction last night in honour of Ayrton Senna, for Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals raised \u00a372,000.<\/p>\n

The event featured a panel of Formula 1 celebrities who recounted their memories of the Brazilian legend. The panel made up of ex-racers David Coulthard and Martin Donnelly, engineers Paddy Lowe and Dave Ryan and Manish Pandey, who wrote and produced the award-winning biopic of Senna\u2019s life in 2010.<\/p>\n

Auctioned items included signed race boots from Romain Grosjean and Jenson Button, Eddie Jordan TW Steel watch, a Senna replica helmet signed by Lewis Hamilton and VIP weekend paddock passes to British Grand Prix.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
