Hamilton top<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lewis Hamilton topped the time sheets during both practice sessions ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. In the first session Max Verstappen put in a impressive second ahead of Red Bull\u2019s Daniel Ricciardo beat his former team-mate Sebastian Vettel to third.<\/p>\n

McLaren\u2019s Jenson Button had a difficult day after he had to wait in the garge because of systems check\u2019 then he suffered some engine problems in the morning. This was followed up by fiftieth place in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Hamilton was ahead of his team-mate Nico Rosberg and Ferrari\u2019s Sebastian Vettel in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Charity football<\/strong><\/p>\n

Felipe Massa lead Formula One drivers to defeat against all-star team in the annual charity football match on Tuesday. The pre Grand Prix game held near the circuit in Monaco.<\/p>\n

The tennis star Novak Djokovic captianed the all-stars team made While the F1 Team included Force India\u2019s Sergio Perez, Toro Rosso rookie Carlos Sainz and Manor pair Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi. Plus reserve drivers Esteban Gutierrez and Pascal Wehrlein.<\/p>\n

Dangerous step<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monisha Kaltenborn has warned of a \u2018dangerous step\u2019 if the sport went down the road of introducing customer cars.<\/p>\n

Last week the Strategy Group outlined changes including return of refuelling, with wider cars and bigger rear tyres. These plans are all aimed at improving the sport and making cars around six seconds a lap faster. Also Autosport says it understands the prospect of customer cars from 2017.<\/p>\n

Kaltenborn told the magazine Sauber \u201cis never going to be a customer car team. For us, this is our business and we will find a way.\u201d\u00a0 She said it will make the sport less attractive.<\/p>\n

Tyre bidding <\/strong><\/p>\n

The FIA have officially opened the tendering process for tyres in 2017 according to motorsport.com. The new contract will run for three years and FIA documents have been released inviting companies to bid.<\/p>\n

The documents say all applications must be made by the 17th<\/sup> of June with the evaluation process set to begin the day after. A decision on whether or not the tyre supplier has the right technical and safety criteria will be made a month later.<\/p>\n

Tyres will have a major change anyway after the announcement made a month later. The documents say \u201cIt should be noted that, whilst the wheel diameter is currently set at 13 inch.\u201d<\/p>\n
