Red Bull\u2019s Daniel Ricciardo once again topped the times in the second practice session ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Australian was one tenth ahead of the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel, with them both setting their fastest laps on the supersoft tyres.<\/p>\n
The Red Bull has looked in strong form all day and this circuit should play to the team’s strengths as the Hungaroring is low speed and requires good downforce. Mercedes Valtteri Bottas was third ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton.<\/p>\n
However, Hamilton failed to complete a lap on the fastest compound of tyre. The Mercedes driver had led the pace early on using the soft tyres, going into this weekend the Brit had said he was expecting that Red Bull would be in the mix.<\/p>\n
It was another difficult afternoon for Jolyon Palmer, after losing his Renault in FP1 the brit slammed his car into the barriers going through the final corner. Palmer lost the front end which sent him into the spin and across the run-off area.<\/p>\n
Before the session, Renault was forced to change the floor on his car because of the incident in FP1.<\/p>\n
Just before than Sauber\u2019s Pascal Wehrlien had what he described as a \u201cmassive\u201d crash with the barrier at Turn Eleven. The German lost the rear through the corner before the car snapped and spun in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n
Red Bull\u2019s Max Verstappen was sixth fastest, over half a second ahead of Renault\u2019s Nico Hulkenberg. Once again, both the McLaren\u2019s made it into the top ten, with Fernando Alonso eighth and Stoffel Vandoorne tenth. The Toro Rosso of Carlos Sainz, in between the two of them.<\/p>\n
However, it wasn\u2019t perfect for Vandoorne as McLaren asked him to bring his car back slowly to the pit lane with a potential mechanical issue.<\/p>\n
Both Felipe Massa and Lance Stroll had difficulties finishing fourteenth and fifteenth.<\/p>\n
Haas\u2019s Kevin Magnussen lost most of the afternoon, thanks to the team’s reserve driver Antino Givoinazzi crashing his car in FP1. When the Dane got out on track,<\/p>\n
Things weren\u2019t going better for Magnussen\u2019s team-mate Romain Grosjean. The Frenchman suspected that they had a suspension problem as he finished a disappointing eighteenth.<\/p>\n
