Valtteri Bottas was fastest for Williams on the second day of the second pre-season test at the Circuit de Catalyuna \u2013 Barcelona. The Fin set his fastest laps on the super soft tyre to go .361 of a second faster than Lewis Hamilton.<\/p>\n
Hamilton completed his lowest laps of the tests so far only managing seven laps during testing and was fifth fastest out of the whole of winter testing. It was also the first time he has gone faster than team-mate Rosberg since the pair spilt the driving last week.<\/p>\n
Hamilton times weren\u2019t as fast as Rosberg set yesterday on both types of tyres but he told Sky Sports News \u201cI got my laps in and I’ve got an understanding where the car is good and where the car isn’t good.\u201d His soft tyre time was six\u00a0 tenths slower than his team-mate.<\/p>\n
He also told BBC News that he was not comfortable with his car on his fastest lap.<\/p>\n
Kevin Magnusson put in a strong performance using the super soft tyres to be a further three tenth back and go ahead of Ferrari\u2019s Sebastian Vettel. But Vettel set the team best on the medium tyre.<\/p>\n
Ferrari has ran main the slower tyre this week but still had the teams fastest time on the tyre but four tenths off Mercedes time on the same tyre.<\/p>\n
McLaren also had another positive day as Jenson Button was fifth and completed more than 100 laps. Button finished the day fifth 1.5 seconds off the pace on the same tyre as Hamilton.<\/p>\n
Racing Director Eric Boullier told Sky Sports News the package was showing “more potential so far” ahead of further refinements ahead of the season-opening Australian GP.<\/p>\n
Haas and Sauber ran into problems on track. Haas failed to complete a flying lap with Esteban Guttierrez who ran into problems after his installation lap as he had turbo issues. Owner Gene Haas said it had been very frustrating.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe weather is perfect, the track is good, we want to be out there. We had an exceptionally good week last week and this is more of what a typical week would be.\u201d He added.<\/p>\n
Toro Rosso had no difficulties going seventh fastest with Carlos Sainz which put him .06 of a second behind the senior Red Bull of Daniel Riccardo.<\/p>\n
Riccardo said \u201cThe two sure things for now are that Mercedes and Ferrari are the top two and then the rest, who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n
