Red Bull could be forced out <\/strong><\/p>\n

Red Bull chief designer Adrian Newey says the team looking to be forced to leave Formula One. The team currently have no engine supplier for 2016 after their relationship with Renault.<\/p>\n

He said \u201cWe’re possibly going to be forced out of Formula One — Mercedes and Ferrari have refused to supply us out of fear.\u201d The designer has won fourteen constructors championship including four back to back titles with Red Bull.<\/p>\n

Speaking the Nissan PlayStation GT Acdemy he said \u201cUnfortunately, our relationship with Renault is pretty terminal — there’s been too much of a marriage breakdown, so we have no engine.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that Renault refused to bring in outside help to improve the engine and also bring in outside expert help. He said \u201cRed Bull should not be put in a position where they’re only there to make up the numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Red Bull\u2019s junior team Toro Rosso are confident they can do a deal with Ferrari to run 2015 engines next year. Berine Ecclestone said he belived that the deal was done with Mercedes.<\/p>\n

But told BBC News at the weekend \u201cYou can understand the position with both Ferrari and Mercedes. If they happen to give Red Bull the same sort of engine that they have, they will show up the people that are supplying the engines\u201d<\/p>\n

News \u2013 in \u2013 brief \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tyre selections \u2013 <\/strong>Pirelli has confirmed the soft and medium tyres will be used for the next three races in America, Mexico and Brazil with the super soft and soft for the season finale in Abu Dhabi. There has been no changes from last year with the three races which took place.<\/p>\n

Hamilton Vettel \u2013 <\/strong>Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says the battle between Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel could develop into \u201cone of the great rivalries in the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferrari\u2019s engine upgrade dilemma <\/strong><\/p>\n

Ferrari may use their remaining engine tokens for the US Grand Prix. The Italian manufacturer will face grid penalties if they introduce an new engine.<\/p>\n

The team cannot beat rival Mercedes after they took the Constructors championship but in theory could snatch the Driver Championship however this looks unlikely. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton only requires a win in Austin with Sebastian Vettel third and Nico Rosberg second.<\/p>\n

The upgrade may be part of the teams 2016 program however will take a penalty for taking a fifth power unit. Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene told Motorsports.com \u201cWe are thinking about in Austin.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added \u201cOf course the situation with Seb second in the championship [must be considered], but we have to do our calculation about what we have in the end before taking any kind of decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vettel said in Japan that \u00a0Ferrari needed to weigh up longer term ambitions by running the new engine, over its short term bid to race wins.<\/p>\n

Pirelli sign three year deal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Berine Ecclestone confirmed on Sunday that Pirelli has signed a new three year deal until 2019 to be the sports sole tyre supplier.<\/p>\n

Ecclestone and Pirelli\u2019s motorsport boss Paul Hembery announced the deal on the grid before Sunday\u2019s Russian Grand Prix. The Italian manufacturer will develop new wider tyres for 2017.<\/p>\n

Exact details of the deal aren\u2019t known yet but Pirelli will get more chances to test new tyres. But full details will need to be approved by the sports governing body the FIA at the next world council meeting.<\/p>\n

Perfect job in Sochi \u2013 Button <\/strong><\/p>\n

Jenson Button says that McLaren did a \u201cperfect\u201d job at the Russian Grand Prix even when you consider that engine partners Honda have a 28MPH power defect in a straight line.<\/p>\n

Honda are aware that there ERS (energy recovery system) is a major weak point which can\u2019t be changed much until after the end of the season. Button said he \u00a0felt like a “sitting duck” in the first couple of laps with the deployment deficit making driving “scary” at particular points on the track.<\/p>\n

Button added \u201cA big thing for us is deployment because we’re not deploying for very long on the straights. So you’re using more fuel and cars are overtaking us into places you would not expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople were passing me everywhere – a sitting duck, as they say – on the first couple of laps.\u201d He said we have a lot of work to do \u00a0especially in terms of deployment and at the next race, McLaren should be more competitive.<\/p>\n

Tribute to rival <\/strong><\/p>\n

Lewis Hamilton who looks set to take his third world championship has paid \u00a0tribute to his team-mate Nico Rosberg after Mercedes celebrated successive team championships after victory in Russia.<\/p>\n

Yesterday Hamilton and Rosberg returned to the teams base in Brackley to celebrate with 1,100 staff there second back-to-back constructors title. \u00a0Hamilton only requires a win in Austin with Sebastian Vettel third and Nico Rosberg second to retain his title.<\/p>\n

Hamilton said \u201cI know everyone at the factories will keep pushing to keep us at the front and myself and Nico will definitely be doing the same. I just want to mention too what a great team-mate Nico is. He\u2019s had a much tougher season so far than I have but has been a real team player throughout.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hamilton said that Rosberg will fight back and in the many years to come in which we\u2019ll no doubt be competing hard against each other.<\/p>\n

Rosberg who is now out of contention for the title said \u201cIt\u2019s been a tough couple of days for me – but being back at the factories and seeing all my colleagues so happy after the championship win really puts a smile back on my face.\u201d<\/p>\n

Discussing future of engines<\/strong><\/p>\n

Formula One engine manufacturers Mercedes, Ferrari, Honda and Renault are to hold a meeting with the FIA on Thursday to talk about the regulations for 2017.<\/p>\n

There are concerns that restrictions and homologation deadlines are freezing in performance advantages too much. They have been calls to shake thing up to level the field. Team bosses and senior engine representatives from all four of F1’s engine makers will get-together that could have big ramifications for the competitive.<\/p>\n

It may allow Honda and Renault to make gains over the winter to catch up with Mercedes. A loophole which allowed in season development will be closed following the first test next year. This has caused friction with Mercedes unwilling to free up the rules.<\/p>\n

Mercedes fear this will allow Ferrari to catch and be a serious challenge to their dominance of the sport.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
